Mary, Queen of Scots, has spent nearly twenty years imprisoned in England. Her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I, must now decide whether to set her free or send her to her death. As pressure grows on Elizabeth to act, Mary continues to hope for a meeting between the two queens that might change her fate.

Performed by Sevenoaks Lower Sixth students, Friedrich Schiller’s Mary Stuart, in a new adaptation by Peter Oswald, tells the story of two women caught in a struggle for the English throne. It is a moving account of their lives and the difficult choices they face, in a world where personal feelings must give way to political necessity.
